April has a sore paw!

April LOVES to dig! Today she got into the bushes and before the humans and I could get her out, she dug herself into a pickle!

She hurt her paw. When she came out, her white fur was all covered in blood and we were all really worried. She wasn’t though… she ran through all the wet grass in big collie circles! She wasn’t bothered at all. By the time we got a look at it most of the blood had gone and luckily it didn’t look too bad.

April's paw

You can kind of see in the photo that April’s last claw is a little darker. After a closer inspection though, luckily we realised there wasn’t much damage. I think she just punctured the skin between her toes with a stick or something.

Paws up

In truth my poor baby sister is suffering more with her new teeth than any minor injury from the garden. She’s crunching her way through lots of ice. Bless her crocodile mouth!

I can’t wait for her to stop teething, so she stops trying to bite everything in sight!

I hope you all have a pawesome weekend!

Bisous, Bailey

  7. Those broken claws and paws can sure bleed a lot! They often look much worse than they are. If it happens again, April could dip her paw in cornstarch to help it stop. Glad she is ok!! 🙂

Be sure to rinse her paw with Hydrogen peroxide to keep it clean throughout the day until her boo boo is not open anymore. Dirt in a dark moist place (like feet and toes) breeds germs. While on the subject make note that there are human foods that are killers to dogs. Macadamia nuts, grapes and raisins . Chocolate in large quantities can make a dog ill. Onions are not good either. Our bodies lack the enzymes to process these things. I want to start a keep April healthy campaign. Love M.J.

  10. Well, you know all about poorly paws, Bailey! I remember the one you had last year! I ‘m glad April is okay. You know she’s just a baby so she doesn’t know when she’s in danger! You’ll have to keep a good watch on her since you’re her big brother!!

  15. We’re sad to hear about April’s ouchie. We hope it will heal quickly. April needs a Kong toy to chew on; however, you may not be able to get that brand where you’re at.

  16. Glad it wasn’t anything serious! That teething is a bear! Oskar’s brother Jester chewed everything! I didn’t have a chair, table, couch or bed that didn’t have his “mark” in it by time he was through!
