Learning to live together…

April coming into our lives has been a huge change for all of us and it’s taken quite a bit of adjustment. Some people expressed their concerns that a Siamese and a Border Collie couldn’t live together, but all it takes is a little bit of patience. (My mum grew up with a cat and a border collie who loved each other.) I’m training April who’s boss and each week she matures at a surprising rate and she gets better and better. We can even relax together now in close proximity.

She still wants to play ALL the time but she’s generally much more polite about it now!

We’re learning to live together and I’m proud of my little sister, she’s a great student!

  1. Gorgeous! And of course cats and border collies can live together, thy just both need to learn the rules of the other and respect them. It seems like that’s exactly what April is doing. -Ellie

I had three cats and a border collie. The cats were boss, and used to cuddle up on the dog.

  7. It does look like you two are pretty close together and nobody needs to get smacked with a kitty paw. Good job, A. You are learning well.

  8. that’s great that you are getting along. My concern will be for the amount of real exercise that April will be able to get living on a sailboat. Border collies need to have lots of opportunity for exercise. But hey, that’s just my opinion

    • Gina we live on land now most of the time and when we are on the boat April has LOTS of time ashore where she has lots of time to run around and play. My humans wanted an active dog, she’s not lacking in exercise don’t worry. =^.^=

As long as you don’t move too fast you should be OK. You don’t want to trigger her herding instinct and have her try to “herd” you back into place

  11. Puppies just have way too much energy – sort of like giant, clumsy kittens! So I’m sure that as April grows up, she’ll calm down and be a nice pal.
