I never thought I’d say this…

…BUT I kind of miss the dinghy devils!

Dinghy Devils

Don’t get me wrong, there are loads of pawesome birds here to watch and they even sing the song of their people. It’s beautiful. If I want to play with them through the window though, they just fly away, they aren’t as bold or as cheeky as the pesky dinghy devils. I never thought I’d say it but I’m looking forward to getting back to the boat and bantering with them again!

I have however, made a new furiend here in the garden. I alerted the humans the other night to a wonderful hedgehog that’s been visiting us.

He’s very shy but I really like watching him and I don’t even mind that the humans have been leaving him a little bit of my food to encourage him to come back. I just hope the neighbour’s cats that stray into my garden won’t steal it though…I’m not sure how to stop them, so I’m keeping a vigil at the window.

Apparently there are lots of rabbits around here and my mum even saw a deer when she was jogging the other day by the river. I hope they all visit me in the garden too. Have you got any regular wild visitors?

Bisous, Bailey

  1. My Angel Bobo used to see deer, and all sorts of animals in our old apt in Cleveland. It was on first floor and there was a window seat, our apt was next to the woods. Bobo had a blast watching all of the animals. Poor Cody, we are on second floor here in Michigan and he doesn’t get to see that many animals or birds. Watch out for the Hedge Hog though, not sure if they are mean or not! catchatwithcarenandcody

  3. I bet you are missing those dinghy devils AND Nocturne like crazy – but soon Bailey – soon! Until then you have plenty to keep you busy including a new baby sister on the way. I just love hedgehogs – we don’t have them here but I have always thought they were just adorable little creatures and I hope yours will stay safe. I regularly see deer, raccoons, possums, an occasional groundhog and once even a black bear! I love that there’s so much to see out the windows.

    Hugs, Sammy

  4. That little hedgehog is so cute. Bailey, even though we live in the city, we live only two blocks from the river so we get lots of wildlife…possums, raccoons, ground hogs, squirrels, skunks (which we can do with out). The deer and ducks are close but never come to our yard. We get the occasional bunny. Enjoy all the land-based things around you. I have seen alligators, bobcats and a Florida Panther in addition to the squirrels, ground hogs, osprey, owls, hummingbirds, etc. The storks and white herons scare my cats.

  9. Wow, it sounds like a wonderful place to watch the wildlife Bailey,
We do have some animal friends, At night a friendly opossum that we call Simon comes onto our deck, and there is a Racoon with three babies who came a couple of nights ago! We watch them through the French Doors that lead onto the deck. (The racoon babies are really cute) Dad puts food out for a couple of neighborhood cats and the racoon was helping herself and her babies to some of the kibbles.
During the day we have lot’s of Squirrels who come to eat the sunflower seeds in the bird feeders. We don’t have any deer, or hedgehogs though, We would love to see the hedgehog up close. He sure is cute!

  11. Wow, you are getting all sorts of interesting critters at your house, Bailey! We just get the ordinary ones – some sparrows, some squirrels. Deer do live somewhere nearby, as do coyotes (definitely do NOT want to run into the latter!).

You are able to make many new animal friends here on the land. I hope they are all friendly to you too.

  14. We are in a flat so the only visitors are flying insects 😮

If we ever move to my little village house in Germany though that would be different… Wild boars, Deers and even a bear would be on the visitor list :0

  15. Our wildlife visitors – skunks, raccoons and rabbits. The visitors we do not prefer (the humans, that is) are snakes – but they are good for keeping our hunting skills sharp.

I'd love to hear what you think....
