Furiends this week I have the pleasure of welcoming the very entertaining fur-siblings from SV Summertime Rolls… Stevie and Lucie! A big welcome both of you, you’re my first duo and I’m really excited about today’s interview!
1.So to start can you please tell us a little bit about yourselves.
Stevie: I’m a big 17 lb panther cat (my people say that means “former feral”) rescued from the mean streets of Nantucket, MA 3 1/2 years ago! The vet says I’d lived on the streets for about 5 years, which is why I’m so big and strong. I moved into a house and then they brought me on to my yacht.
Lucie: My mom found me in New York City 15 years ago, where a rescue group took me from a flower shop. I had a pretty good life with my old brother Sam for 5 years, but then my mom moved me in with my Dad’s sons Loki and Maddie. I did NOT like them much – Mom says it was like “kitty Thunderdome”. They all crossed the rainbow bridge after a few years (I swear it wasn’t my fault), then we moved to this boat. It’s not bad, as long as I get my scratches when I want them.
2. How do you spend an average day of your life?
Stevie: mostly snuggling with my Dad-dad, or waiting for my dinner. But the best is when they anchor my yacht and I can go smell stuff outside!
Lucie: avoiding Stevie, scowling, and maybe allowing my mom and dad to give me the occasional scratch.
3. What’s your favourite thing to do to?
Stevie: I like to lay around thinking of ways to annoy Lucie, and then put those plans into action. Also, food.
Lucie: scowling at Stevie
4. Tell us about who you live with? Do you like them?
Stevie: Dad-dad and Mom-mom are the bestest! Especially Dad-dad, he’s my favorite. I’m his minion, he says.
Lucie: yes, I live with my humans, and, unfortunately, Stevie. Jeez, that guy – ugh.
5. Do you prefer spending time on land or on the boat?
Stevie: you mean my yacht? I totes love my yacht, because sometimes I get to go outside! Though land also has air conditioning. Sometimes this fur coat can be a bit much when there’s no breeze.
Lucie: whatever. As long as there is food and a scratch when I want it.
6. Where’s your favourite place on the boat?
Stevie: When we’re at anchor or on a mooring I love lounging in the cockpit and walking around the deck. When we’re moving I’m not ashamed to admit that I sleep on the floor of the head. It’s just easier for everyone, really.
Lucie: as far away from Stevie as possible.
7. I’m sorry to lower the tone, but people are always intrigued… Do you ever get sea-sick?
Stevie: yeah, it’s pretty bad. If we are in heavy seas for a long time I get all drooly…it even grosses me out.
Lucie: no way…Stevie’s a wimp. I just go find a really good snuggly spot and I’m fine.
8. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever seen whilst sailing?
Stevie: I saw a bird once! I totally would have caught it too if there hadn’t been glass between me and it.
Lucie: watching Stevie go overboard, oh wait, that didn’t happen, I dreamt it while we were at sea.
9. What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done? (Don’t be shy it’s good to get it out in the open.)
Stevie: I fear-pooped once when we were sailing. At least I did it while I way laying in the head.
Lucie: I pushed Stevie overboard, oh wait, me dreaming again. Although when Stevie first came to live with us, I kept him cornered on a chair, I’d attack him if he tried to get off of it to use the litter box. That was pretty awesome.
10. What do you think your next big adventure in life will be?
Stevie: they say I have to get on a plane in a few months to go home for the summer, that’ll be an adventure…or wait, just scary.
Lucie: pushing Stevie overboard. I hope.
11. If somebody asked you for advice and you only had a few minutes to give them your best tip, what would it be?
Stevie: don’t move your boat. Or anchor your boat in Cane Garden Bay, BVI in a north swell.
Lucie: don’t let your mom marry a guy with two cats. I mean, Dad’s fine…but these other cats, UGH.
Wow you guys are PAWESOME! Thank you so much for coming today and thank you to your humans for the purrfect photos of you both. Stevie I’d be careful about walking too close to the edge of the boat if I were you!
Stevie: Thanks Bailey I will, I’m off to enjoy a cold one now!
Happy Caturday evfurryone!
