We’re buying a BIGGER boat!

Furiends I’m very happy to tell you all that we’re buying a bigger boat! Her name is Atlantia. She’s a Formosa 51, and she’s absolutely beautiful! She’s been around the world with her current owners, Will and Margaret, and they’ve very kindly agreed to let me use a couple of their photos to show you. As I’m sure you’ll agree, Atlantia is definitely one of the best Formosa 51s around thanks to Will and Margaret’s love for her and their hard work.

The decision has been a very tough one to make, as you know we all adore Nocturne. Atlantia will provide us with about three times the living space which, as full time (working) live aboards, will be invaluable to us. Atlantia will also have plenty of room for our little family to potentially expand one day.

None of you will be more shocked than I am that Nocturne is going to be replaced. I’ll be honest, it has taken me a long time to come around to the idea. Nocturne’s my first love and I will be heartbroken when we put her up for sale and watch her sail away one day. I will however purrsonally ensure that she goes to a very good home where I’m sure she will be properly looked after. I’m also very excited about exploring Atlantia thoroughly and choosing lots of spots to lounge and hide in. I’m already in love with her, even though I’ve not actually seen her yet!

When I sent the humans off on that ‘secret mission’, I actually sent them to Greece to see Atlantia. They will be going back again next Monday for the survey and all being well, Atlantia will join us here at the end of May. So it’s a very exciting and emotional time here!

Daydreaming

I hope you all have a pawesome weekend!

Bisous, Bailey

  1. Wow – what a beauty she is! Can understand your sadness about Nocturne but the space looks considerably bigger. You’ll not know yourselves rattling about in her 😀 Congrats.

Every best wish for your new and bigger and ventures! I surveyed the boat, then named “Raynad”, back in the nineties and, as far as I can remember, she had no significant problems and my client, a New Zealander, went through with the purchase. The survey report from then is on my old computer in the cupboard in Palma yacht club but there may be a copy of it among the boat’s papers. Wendy and I are taking it easier this year after our 4,000 mile cruise over the last couple of years and are limiting ourselves to sailing more suitable for “senior citizens” – racing in the Firth of Forth next weekend and cruising with old pals in Chesapeake Bay next month (mainly drinking some good whisky and eating lots of crabs washed down with pitchers of beer).
Give our love to Bailey too!

    • We saw your name on one of the documents and couldn’t believe it. It’s a small world! We know that she was also called Pinocchio at one point. We like the name Atlantia so she will keep that name which we think suits her. The racing sounds like fun and we’re all very jealous of the crabs! Enjoy them. We hope to catch up with you both soon. Love from us all x

But…if have a question about your comment, “Atlantia will also have plenty of room for our little family to potentially expand one day.” WHA?! Another Bailey? Huh, huh, HUH? Do tell!

    • Hehe… I’m not sure there’s space for two cats aboard… there’s talk of a ‘woofer’ one day so I’m practicing my boxing skills now. But apparently if we have mini humans one day I have to be nice to them!
