Pawful provisioning!

We’re hoping if the weather holds we can sail to Ponza for about a week on Saturday! So obviously we need to provision. Normally, since we’re in the marina most of the time, the humans pop to the supermarket nearly every other day for fresh things. When we really start cruising this isn’t going to be possible obviously. So the humans have been trying out lots of different methods of keeping track of what we have and storing things in lots of different places.

So far we haven’t found the way that suits us purrfectly. They keep getting their food in such a mess! I’ve been trying to help them organise things.

Endless cupboard

Is that tuna?!

I suggested they try and stay on top of things a bit more by using a spreadsheet. My furiend Carolyn over at The Boat Galley has very kindly made a downloadable spreadsheet that we are going to adapt. Hopefully we’ll be able to keep on top of what we have and where it is!

My food is easily stored and I’m always on top of where it is and how much is left… Hopefully now I can train the humans to be on the ball too!

Comfy spot!

Bisous, Bailey

  1. We’ve loved it here in Greece, being able to go to all of the local fruit markets an bakeries each day… I know that’s not long term cruising, but it’s been a nice change of way of life!

  2. Have a wonderful time in Ponza. Safe sailing. And yes your humans don’t look terribly organized. You will keep them organized. Love your mezzer friend Monty x

  3. They are so lucky to have you, Bailey!

  4. Oh we so know what your going through. A pet peeve of ours is a cupboard (hole) located in the counter. Not only do you have to find somewhere for the stuff on the counter to go if you want to get into the darn thing, but it’s nearly impossible to see into it. I’ll try to get a photo of my mom’s head stuck inside it next time she tries to get something from it, and the little hissy fit that comes after. =^,,^=

  5. kittiesblue says:

Some humans are just more organized than others. Both our humans suck at it! Looks like you are sliding into a hole in the last photo. You know, your honorary sisfur, Nylablue, likes to hang out in the cabinets, particularly the one where her noms are. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  6. It is so much easier for us kitties to live more simply and efficiently than humans, Bailey! I hope you can give them some tips.

  7. That looks like quite the chore Bailey! Hope the spreadsheet helps get your humans organized! Happy Sailing!

  8. Bailey, you are such a terrific helper for your peeps! Without you, they wouldn’t be as organized, and you wouldn’t have enough chow…

  9. Bailey brofur yer pawtastick to help yer pawentz ore-ganize dere foodz! 10. They are lucky to have you to help them organize. I can see you were a big help, B. Have fun cruising.

    Love and licks,

  11. Don’t let them forget chocolate and condensed milk!

  12. I wouldn’t worry bout organizin da foodz, I’d work on eatin it!

  13. Hey, Buddy Bailey! YOU are definitely on top of the kitty provisions! It’s up to your humans to sort out THEIR stuff, but you should just guard YOUR stuff and make sure it’s in order. Looks like you are well-pawsed to take on this duty! Happy sailing, and keep up the great work! Pat

  14. Glad to hear at least you have your food situation under control!!

  15. It must be a challenge on a long sail to be able to have enough food stored in enough spots on the boat which has limited storage space! Cat food is EASY PEASY to stash but all that human stuff – well – it’s a challenge! But I’m sure you’re all up to it Bailey – you’re a sailing family now……you look quite comfy in that last photo – all tucked into a snuck spot on the bed!

    Hugs, Sammy
