Happy World Oceans Day 2013!

Wether you live inland, by the coast or on the water we are all connected to and by the ocean. Today is a celebration of our beautiful oceans and all the wonderful creatures and habitats within them.

The World Oceans Day website lists these reasons why we should all celebrate today:

The world’s ocean:

Generates most of the oxygen we breathe
Helps feed us
Regulates our climate
Cleans the water we drink
Offers us a pharmacopoeia of potential medicines
Provides limitless inspiration!

We all have a responsibility to care for and protect our oceans. One thing you can do today is make a promise to help protect and conserve our oceans by making a small change in your daily life. Here’s mine:

What’s your promise?

Bisous Bailey

  1. when we get back to Mexico with our lil boat baby, I promise to spend a day pulling plastic bags out of the water in La Paz! hopefully I can get some other boaters to help too!

  2. Bailey we love our waterways..we are very careful about what we use and how we use it,with a dam we must make sure we keep things healthy for the environment around it.I use recyclable bags for my shopping,we don’t litter,we leave only footprints, and today here in Australia we heard they want to dump in the Great Barrier Reef area after dredging for coal…this will not be acceptable! Good words Bailey..keep sailing a true course 🙂

  3. You’re a very conscientious kitty! You have inspired me to spread the word of encouraging all of us have a “lighter pawprint” on the planet.

  4. Good promise. Even tough we are hard-core recyclers, we’ll try to do the same. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette

  5. Well said and well done Bailey……we recycle what we can and hope everyone remembers that the world’s resources are NOT endless and boundless…..!

    Happy World Oceans Day…….
    Kitty Hugs, Sammy

  6. Hey Bailey, great comments and we agree. We are as good recyclers as can be but it’s hard when there are no collections, so we will also COMMIT TO REDUCING OUR USE OF PLASTICS! That way we don’t need to recycle cause we won’t be using them in the first place.

Reblogged this on Morning Glory Photo graphy and commented:
Amen!! This is so imprtant. Lets join Bailey in his quest!

  8. You are awesome, Bailey! My human still has a long way to go with being eco-friendly – here in L.A., they still allow plastic bags and my human needs to remember to bring her reusable bags with her more often! Bast knows we have enough – she always brings home several from the conferences she attends!

I'd love to hear what you think....
