April has a secret

Furiends most of you know my dark secret… I’m a boat cat who’s afraid of the wind.

Guess what… April is a boat dog who’s afraid of…

We’ve all tried to get her to like the water from the beach, swimming off Nocturne, and even in the bath at the house, but she still hates it!

The humans keep trying to get her to like it though.

Mum carrying April

The last couple of days they think they’ve had a small breakthrough… Mum putting April into the water

The last time they forced encouraged her into the water, she didn’t instantly race out again. She stayed there for a couple of minutes splashing around!

So maybe April is slowly overcoming her fear… When it gets very windy I think I’ll still play it safe though and run inside the boat!

Bisous, Bailey

  1. She may be afraid of the water, but can she swim? That seems to be the most essential part!

  2. oops!

  3. Sweet, sweet, April! I guess she is not a retriever! And we all have our fears! Montyx

  4. Oh well…April is young…maybe she’ll learn to like the water.

  5. It does look as if Mom Lou and Dad James are making some progress. We thought all woofies just naturally liked water! We don’t blame your not liking wind. It could blow you right off the boat! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  6. Robyn Drysdale says:

    Oh no! Poor April.
Our boy has webbed feet and swims like a fish, though he is hesitant to get in the water.

  7. She is still very young, giver her some time and I think she’ll love the water as much as the rest of the family

  8. Poor April. Keep working slowly with her – small puppy steps so to speak. Let her play and splash in shallow water near the shore to start with, which it looks like you are doing.

  9. Yikes! That is not good for a sailing family! heehee
We purr April learns to like water.
    We like it…for drinking. MOL!

  10. mitzithedog says:

The humans should try swimming with her. if she likes to chase balls try putting a ball in the water for her to pick up. She will think of water as family play time

  11. I think once you start sailing regularly again, and April gets into the Dinghy, she’ll see what fun it can be!! Good luck, and may your winds always be fair, dear fellow. Pat

  12. My human’s boyfriend’s dog, who was part border collie, wasn’t fond of the water either! I guess it’s something that has to be learned.

  13. Well, April’s secret is no longer secret – we ALL know now but I think over time your Mom and Dad will convince her that water isn’t so bad and she’ll become a “true” boat dog!

    Hugs, Sammy

  14. I’m sure April will get the hang of having fun in the water soon enough,xx Speedy

  15. My parents had a dog that would even walk around water puddles. It wasn’t that she was afraid of water–just didn’t like getting wet. Maybe April doesn’t want to muss up her lovely fur 😉

I'd love to hear what you think....
