I’ve been busy studying a pawesome book called The Happy Puppy Handbook by Pippa Mattinson.
It’s really great with lots of good tips and tricks to teach the puppy how to be a good puppy. I knew I was going to need to train April on the boat but I didn’t realise I’m going to have to house train her too…It’s going to be interesting.
I’m very happy to learn that until she’s properly house-trained and trusted as much as my innocent self, she will be spending night times in puppy prison! The humans call it a crate… I call it purrfect! I’ll be able to continue my nightly rituals without having to puppy-sit.
The book is also teaching me how to raise a polite puppy which is great because I don’t want any bad manners. April will have to learn that I’m the boss very quickly and treat me with the respect that I deserve!
I’m very excited and the humans are too! I think by the time she comes home next week I’ll have studied the whole book and hopefully we’ll be ready!
I hope you all have a pawesome week!
Bisous, Bailey
You’ll be a fine teacher, Bailey and I know April will be a well mannered polite puppy!

Hehehe!!! Dakota spent over a year in his crate at night and when we left the house…then, when he was around two he refused to use it. Good luck with the training!! Most of it will be “paws-on” training…….hehehe!!!! catchatwithcarenandcody

Just as with raising children it is the same with puppies. There is no one book fixes all problems. Some of the problems you will have to fix as you go. Tell your humans they do make cute pant to prevent pee accidents for dogs. Maybe she will use your litter box. Be careful dogs seem to think cat poop is a delicacy .

I used to stay in dog jail when I first came here. It was very helpful. Now that I am trained, Mom gave my jail away. We do have a travel jail, though, just in case we need it to visit friends.

It’s going to be interesting when April joins your family, Bailey.

Fortunately, Bailey, most of the training is up to your humans – you just need to make sure the new puppy knows you are in charge!

Getting to know as much about puppies as possible is a wise move, Bailey. She is going to be full of energy, and it is very hard for puppies to listen when they are excited, So be patient with her, and you will surely bend her to your will.
