Preventing history repeating itself!

Those of you that have followed my adventures for a long time might remember how I ruined a sofa when I lived in Nice. I was in so much trouble I couldn’t imagine a time that I wouldn’t be in trouble again!

Well I’ve never touched anything with my claws on the boat (there’s a few marks from my claws where I misjudged jumps a few times, but the humans leave marks too… it’s the beauty of a lived in boat). We’ve been on land for about two weeks now and I don’t know why but my claws are drawn to the sofa again. So the humans have invested in a cover to protect it and me from trouble.

I’m hoping that my little sister won’t be allowed on the sofa, then I can look down and order her around. I’m sure she’ll ruin something though and then the humans can stop going on about something I ruined years ago!

Thank you all so very much for all of your kind words and prayers for Nemo. I’m very happy to tell you that his operation was a success and he’s doing as well as can be expected for this stage in his recovery. Apparently he’s won the hearts of all of the nurses looking after him already, he’s not lost his charming ways! He has to stay at the vets for the next few days but I’ll keep you updated when he comes home and feels better. Your support really means the world to me and my family so thank you all again.

Bisous, Bailey

  1. Love the look on your face where you are looking at the camera just as much as to say “who me? I wouldn’t scratch this!”
I know it is very tempting but I hope you get a big cat condo/scratch tree for your claws soon so the sofa won’t be so tempting.

  2. Good news on Nemo, glad to hear that.

A furniture cover is a good idea. In our house, both wing chairs have covers. One wing chair is a little beat up where we places our claws. Our spirit cats, Dino and Pebbles, did a good job on the sofa like you did on yours. Pebbles did the most ripping and tearing. She was able to stick her head inside the sofa arm and didn’t see anything of interest. 🙂

  3. Oh Bailey glad to hear Nemo did well with his surgery….we’ll keep sending POTP for his recovery. As for the sofa – it’s kind of a natural instinct for us to need to “shred” and keep our nails healthy…..maybe you’ll need a scratching post or climbing tree there to keep you from the sofa. You’re right about your little sister though – she will be getting in trouble a LOT (puppies do that) so you might be able to get away with a whole lot more!

    Hugs, Sammy

  4. Great news about Nemo!

  5. We’ll keep on praying for Nemo!! I’m sure he’ll recover just fine!!

I don’t know if you would like them but they do make nail caps for cats. I have not heard from any cat friends if they like them. They make them in colors

    Yay for Nemo ! Purrs

  8. OH that does look a splendid throne er.. sofa for Mum and Dad 😉 NEMO NEWS = awesome and so GOOD to hear. I hope Mum and dad are settling in landside.

  9. The Feline Contingent says:

    Meow Mr. Bailey,

If that dark blue thing is a cover, that your humans have placed over your sofa, my clowdermates and I can help you burrow under it. Every kitty needs a good hiding place — and their own sofa to destroy. [Snicker.]

  10. We are delighted about the good news for Nemo.
We purr he continues to improve and get well!
Having a sister will be handy when things go wrong as you will have someone to blame 😉

  11. Is there proof that it was YOU who scratched the couch? It could’ve been ANYBODY! It’s so easy to blame us for everything…..

    Love and licks,

  12. That’s great news about Nemo! We purr that he makes a good recovery.

  13. I love your look of affronted innocence in the second photo, Bailey! That is great news about Nemo, and I’m looking forward to more updates.

Oh yes……know the ” ripped fabric” look well. You did a good job on that couch Bailey ! Mum finally had to switch to leather because of me.

  15. You need a Smart Cat Ultimate Scratching Post. I absolutely positively love mine and never touch the furniture 🙂

  16. Ha Ha Bailey, Pawdon us, but that cover does not appear to be “claw proof!” We’ll look forward to a report in a few days. In the meantime, you keep that pose, dear buddy!! pat

  17. you have super kind and thoughtful pawrents for sure!! Love that they got a new cover for the couch, just for YOU!!! Thank you for updating us about Nemo as well…still sending purrs and prayers!! xoxo catchatwithcarenandcody

MEWYAY about Nemo- we wish him a speedy and comfy recovery filled with lots of love and treats.
Impressive work on the couch dude! Why humans cannot appreciate our artwork is beyond us, guess they just don’t know fine clawsmanship when they see it. How exciting your new little sisfur will be arriving before you know it. We lost our little woofie sis in December to cancer, one Kaspars raised from a puppy and we miss her. Our humans have spoken about getting us a new little sister or brother woofie this summer, so we could be adding to our family soon too! Woofies can be wonderful- especially when raised by cats as they learn who is in charge and do not question it. Our angel sis Sophie was like this and would wait patiently as we ate food we wanted to try from her food dish first. We never once had to whap her with a stern paw as we always were firm in authority from the beginning. So when your sisfur arrives home, do not let her see anything less than a position of authority with you, and things will go well for her. MEWHAHAHA!

    Clove & Kaspars

  19. Bailey, with your new cat tree, hopefully you will learn to work out your claws on the scratching parts. Also other scratching posts and scratcher/loungers are a good investment. Try to be a good by. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  20. Sounds like you need a scratch pole Bailey!

I'd love to hear what you think....
