A sailor afraid of the wind?

We’ve been having lots of storms rolling through our marina over the weekend with gusts of winds up to 40knts! I’m not afraid of the thunder and lightening, in fact I love watching it out of the portholes! You all know how much I love listening to the rain on the decks too. I must admit though, it’s very embarrassing but… I sometimes get a little nervous when it’s really windy if I’m outside! I know, I know! A sailor that’s afraid of the wind, it’s ridiculous.

I’m not afraid as such, I just prefer to be safely inside when the wind is really strong. It ruffles my fur the wrong way and although I’m on four paws I feel like I might get blown over. The humans are mean, they laugh when I run back inside after a big gust! So until I’m sure the weather has settled again I’m going to keep watch from inside the boat!

On watch!

I hope you all have a pawesome week!

Bisous, Bailey

  1. Bailey, considering that we are kind of small, I think that your concerns about being blown overboard are well founded. Nothing to be ashamed of, just proper concern for the safety and well being of the ships Captain (you).

  2. I get scared of the winds! We get big winds on the west coast of Vancouver Island, where I live with my mom!

  3. oh Bailey I think it is perfectly reasonable to be worried about the wind. You stay safe indoors when it is like that.

  4. I think you’re smart, B. A strong wind can pick up a little kitty like you and fly you through the air. I am happy you’re inside safe and sound.

They aren’t thinking a gust of wind against your body weight feels like you will be lifted up and over the boat. My human has issues with wind because many years ago she lost her home in Texas in a tornado. ( before I was with her) It was HUGE and winds were over 200MPH. !!

  7. Bailey, I always worry about my friendly ferals when it’s gusty outside! Angel and Chuck hate it when stuff gets blown against the house hard enough to make a noise; they get all crouchy and try to hide under the furniture.

  8. Mutual lessons might be beneficial. Our furry and hairy crew don’t mind wind, but lightning petrifies them!

  10. We don’t blame you Bailey.
We do not like wind and having our furs ruffled either!
Best to be inside with the pirates 😉

  11. Bailey, a purrfect sailor knows there are fair winds and foul; so you are wise to exercise safety measures!! Pat

  12. Well, you are safer being inside when it’s gusty out anyway, Bailey.

  13. I’d run for cover, too! The majority of cats don’t like water and wind gusts could easily send you overboard 😦

Pee Ess: How rude of the humans to laugh at you!

  14. Bailey, our mom hates the wind and tries not to go out in it as it makes her angry. Four paws or not, 40 knots could pick you up and blow you away. We wouldn’t like that. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
