Who turned out all the lights?

Furiends, I’ve spent the day in the dark… OK not literally in the dark since the sun was shining and actually our lights are LED and powered by Nocturne herself, but we’ve not had any electricity from the pontoon!

Apparently the humans received an email weeks ago informing them that the marina’s electricity would be switched off today for maintenance, but as usual my humans forgot! Nocturne can generate her own power with our solar panels and wind generator. We also have an inverter to provide us with mains power so we can plug in small electrical items like our phones and laptops etc. but today we actually enjoyed a day with no electricity at all!

Stretching in the sun

It’s pawesome to unplug sometimes!

  1. Not having electricity was relaxing…. seems like when we have it, it generates a lot of distractions and noise.

  3. that’s fine so long as there is a way to heat my house but when the electricity is off and the furnace won’t run, that’s no fun for me at all. Glad you enjoyed your day in the dark.

  4. Hi Bailey, It’s Pete and the Girls,
We have a generator that dad had installed when his mom lived with us untill she passed. Sometimes when we have storms we lose power for several days and gramma had to have air-conditioning and an oxygen concentrator that she needed to live. It comes on automatically when the power goes off. During the last tropical storm a tree took the lines down to our neighborhood and we had drop cords running to the neighbors on both sides, of our house so they could have some lights and their refrigerators.
So we don’t get any days in the dark.

  5. I agree! “Unplugging” CAN be a pawesome thing! Love the photo! Nice job with the challenge!! catchatwithcarenandcody

  6. A day isn’t so bad. When one has it every day for a few hours stretching into week after week, it is less easy to see the joke. Still, it is amazing how one learns to cope without a mains supply – just as we are now needing to collect and save water.

  7. We’ve been unplugged before – but that’s when mom forgot to pay the electric bill!!! MOL!!

  8. Mom is annoyed when she has to unplug. She is a plugged-in maniac!

    Love and licks,

  9. Wow! I don’t even know if my human can fathom unplugging to that extent!

  10. We agree Bailey.
Time spent with each other is a good thing.

  11. Bailey, you are so right! “Unplugging” can free you for other more impawtant things. Just think before the age of electricity…kitties and humans got plenty of good stuff accomplished! Pat

  14. It is refreshing isn’t it? Mom tends to turn everything off quite a bit in the spring and just open up the windows and we all enjoy the smell and sounds of spring 🙂

I'd love to hear what you think....
