A new starter motor!

We’ve been busy getting Noccy ready for our trip to Greece and one thing that had been bugging me was the starter motor. Nocturne has a new engine which runs purrfectly but recently every now and then, when we go to turn on the engine, it hasn’t been starting straight away. Now obviously this is a potential safety issue if we really need to move so we had a mechanic come and look at it.

He took it out and concluded that it had water in it from when we had a problem with our water pump.

He advised that we put in a brand new starter motor so that we wouldn’t have any further problems.

Fitting the new starter motor

My dad has since taken the old motor apart and realised that there wasn’t any water inside, there was just a little corrosion. So he’s sorted that and now we just have to buy a small piece to fit it back together again. We are going to keep the old one as a spare.

I’m very happy that it’s all sorted and that Nocturne is purring nicely.

  6. Great idea to keep the old unit as backup. Since you have it, you will never need it but if you didnt have it, you would need it!

  7. Purring is exactly what you want from an engine. And from a kitty, of course.
