We made an office!

Furiends I mentioned before that we were converting what used to be a dumping ground for boxes and piles of clothes into an office space for mum. It was actually a very fun little project. I’m not going to show you the before photo because the disorganised jumble was far too embarrassing, but I will show you the process! First of all we took out all of the boxes and cleaned behind them.

Office space

Cleaning

Then I rearranged and re-stowed them, getting rid of lots of things we never used anymore. I’m quite happy with the result it looks much neater now!

Cabin (bedroom)

Now as you can see the humans use those steps to get in and out of bed easily and there’s still boxes in the way of the desk area.

Clothes storage

Like most things on boats the office still has to double as storage space when it’s not actually being used as an office. Now that it’s set up this way though, it will only take a couple of minutes to transform into a pawesome office! We had to get a chair for mum to sit on of course, which I’ve tested and can confirm is very comfortable…

Comfortable Office Chair

If you think it looks rather big you’d be right, BUT it’s very clever because it folds up nicely and is the purrfect size to fit into our newly cleaned out hanging locker, which is our main wardrobe!

Chair in the wardrobe

You can see the chair folded up just to the right of the wardrobe.

Then I cleaned out all of the old, useless paperwork that had been forgotten in the desk, so my human can put her impawtant books and office ‘things’ in.

In the desk!

That was pretty much it! To convert from living and storage space into office space, all she needs to do is detach the steps and place them on the bed. Move the big box of ‘daily clothes’ onto the bed. Move the two smaller boxes out of the way to make room for her legs under the desk and unfold the chair and place the comfy cushion on top! So now instead of using the nav table in the main saloon where there’s always something going on and she can’t concentrate, she can come in here, draw the curtain and be away from whatever else is happening. Eventually we might hang a door where the curtain is, (Nocturne used to have one here because we can see where the hinges were) but for now she can wear ear plugs or listen to music with ear phones or something to block out any distractions.

It’s now a fully functioning office and we are all pleased with the final result!

The finished office!

Bisous, Bailey

  9. Clever with the foldaway chair – those are really comfortable for kitties, too, although Mac prefers the smaller ones belonging to the kids – even though he only just fits!

Bailey you could have an alternate career as a pawfessional organizer- how would the humans ever have done this without your expertise?! Pawesome! I need you to come to my house to help me sort out my clutter.

  19. Way cool, we are trying to find a way to travel with our little dog. Right now our adventures are to extreme to take our little pup with. Maybe in the next few years.

  20. Plus, you have a space to file a “Captain’s Log”. But since you’re an admiral, its an “Admiral’s Log”. 🙂
