Wishing we had Scurvy here!

One of the best things about our lifestyle is that we’re very lucky to meet some truly pawesome people. These people also massively go up in my estimation when they’ve been adopted by a pet!

When we met S/V D.W.Crow, the humans fell in love with Bob and Martha a couple of pawesome Canadians who are cruising and making their way home to Canada. I enjoyed watching their feline Scurvy jumping around the place on the opposite pontoon to us!

They’ve been staying here in our marina for about a month, a few bad weather spells meant they stayed longer than they’d intended to, which worked out fantastically for us here aboard Nocturne because we got the pleasure of their company for a little longer.

I’m a little ashamed to say that I wasn’t very welcoming when the very furiendly Scurvy popped around to visit…

I made him feel quite uncomfortable and he left after about 2 minutes. I’d like to publicly apologise to Scurvy, (who’s a Turkish Van) I was having a bad day, and I promise to be nicer next time we meet.

Unfortunately the sad thing about meeting such cool cruisers meant they they had to leave us this morning to go on being an inspiration to the three of us!

The humans and I got up to wave them off at about 6 AM and to take a few photos of their beautiful blue-water boat, a cutter rigged Cabot 36 named D.W.Crow after Martha’s great grandfather.

We hope they have fair winds and a fantastic trip. We miss them already!

Bisous Bailey

  1. What fun! I hope the there were no hard feelings between the cats, but you never know! Ellie

  2. Scurvy is very handsome! We would probably be bad hosts too, Bailey.

  3. Just because the humans like to socialize, there is no need for you, Bailey, to do the same with your humans’ friends’ cat. You are not used to feline society for a long time, now – no wonder you were not the most welcoming host.

    • Well I’ve been in cat camp a lot and quite good with some of the dogs that have been passing through that I’ve met on the pontoon, but I was just having a bad day I guess! Scurvy and I have chatted from afar since we’re furiends again now!

I thought you were talking about the disease Scurvy. Very funny. SOmetimes we don’t feel like having company I am sure Scurvy understood.

  5. Everyone has a bad day now and then, B. Don’t sweat it. I’m sure Scurvy’s parents will explain. Those friends were perfect for you and your parents. So much fun.

    Love and licks,

  6. so cool to meet a fellow feline sailor!

  7. You know those Turkish Van kitties love water…it’s a pity you two couldn’t go on a swim together!! *(trills)*

  8. How nice to get visitors!

  9. That’s awesome that they’re spreading the Canadian Joy all over the place. Way to represent, Bob, Martha and Scurvy! Safe travels home eh!

  10. Aaaaw Bailey so sowwy yous furiend left afur yous all kuld make up. but wus vewy nice yous had such a good time.

  11. How fun to meet another boat cat, and we are sure he forgave you for being less than hospitable. We too wish him and his humans fair winds and hope that you shall meet again sometime. XO and love from your brofur and sisfurs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    • Thank you so much brofur and sisfurs! We had such a lovely time with them all it’s so nice to meet people you just click with. Scurvy now knows I didn’t really mean it.

Look slike a new friendship has been made and hope you all get a chance ti nurture it in the near future.

  13. Shirley Street says:

So exciting to read of your new friends. I’m sure there will be no lasting hard feelings regarding Scurvy. It takes a while for kitties to be tolerant of other kitties. (especially boys)

  14. We are also finding that we meet awesome people on our cruising travels. This lifestyle is so fantastic!!

  15. Well Bailey I suspect you don’t have TOO many cat visitors aboard Noccy and after all you ARE a “guard cat” so having Scurvy there might have put you in “protect” mode! Her parents looks like lovely people though and it was nice to have some time with them before they continue their voyage to Canada.

    Hugs, Sammy

    • Oh it really was Sammy! I didn’t mean to be rude I just got a big urge to protect everything even though Scurvy was very polite and the purrfect guest. I think he’s forgiven me now though luckily!

  16. I do love that catter – I mean, cutter. An efficient-looking boat. Pity they weren’t sticking around – I’m sure you two would have bonded!
