Happy Birthday Shakespeare!

Today is the anniversary of a very special writer’s birthday…Happy Birthday Shakespeare!

If he were still alive today, Shakespeare would be celebrating his 449 birthday! Wow! (I’m not even two yet!) In Stratford-upon-Avon there have been processions and celebrations to mark the birth of the world’s greatest playwright.

I’m very interested in writing. I’ve recently turned my paw to writing a story for children about how pawesome the ocean is. If only one day my quotes become as well know as some of Shakespeare’s:

Romeo and Juliet- “O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?”. – (Act II, Scene II).

Hamlet- “To be, or not to be: that is the question”. – (Act III, Scene I).

King Henry IV, Part II- “He hath eaten me out of house and home”. – (Act II, Scene I).

Twelfth Night- “Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them”. – (Act II, Scene V).

King Richard III- “So wise so young, they say, do never live long”. – (Act III, Scene I).

Let’s hope this one from The Merry Wives of Windsor rings true for me…

I’d also like to wish all my English furiends a very Happy St. George’s day!

  1. Oh Bailey you’d be purrrrfect as the author of a kids book about the ocean – and life on a boat, etc. As for oysters – my Mom says “YUM” – one of her favorite things to eat!

  8. We didn’t know this was the Bard’s birthday. With the crazy, fast-paced society we live in with bogs and smart phones and Twitter, it is sort of hard to believe that anything from our time will be so long-lasting, but it’s always great to have aspirations. Good luck! Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
