Now we all know the famous Scouts saying ‘always be prepared’ but one of the boats in our marina has me questioning, is there such a thing as being over prepared?
For such a small boat it’s equipped with a huuge number of devices and what looks like junk unimportant things, that to my eyes don’t really seem necessary! I look at it and wonder how the boat doesn’t sink, under the weight of all the extra gadgets that it’s got piled up on top of it.
Don’t get me wrong I’m sure the sailor has a perfectly intelligent/crazy reason for installing all these gizmos and I’d love to hear all about them one day if we ever meet him. Gee, I’d love to get invited on board to have a sniff around, if the outside looks like this, imagine what the inside would look like!
They have a life raft on the deck which is one thing we will invest in before we go off cruising long term. But at the moment, we are never too far away from the shore to warrant spending such a huge amount of money on something that we don’t really need right now and has a shelf life. Other than that though, I don’t think we will be taking any inspiration from this errrm ‘set up’. We have all the safety and navigation equipment that we need.
I’m sure the owner of this interesting little boat has lots of pawesome stories and theories, but I love my beautiful Nocturne just as she is!
I truly believe the saying that sometimes, less is more!
Bisous Bailey
The other boat indeed has a glut of goop on it. I suppose needed if traveling around the world, but it looks terrible. And the hull itself looks in need of a dry dock cleaning. Nocturne on the other hand looks much better kept and much less cluttered. Well done Bailey! I didn’t know the Nocturne is from Dublin – Beautiful boat. 😉

Looks like a drug runner to us…not that we’ve ever met one. But we do watch a lot of TV. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at http://www.thecatonmyhead.com, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette

We call it robinettery – when tinkering can get way out of hand and the whole point and style of an object is lost. Nocturn is safe, rest easy dear Bailey!

Talk about a crowded boat. Your boat looks much prettier and more organized.

Not to mention the power need to run all that equipment! Im a believer in KISS principal as well. Sometimes you have to be thankful for your discerning choice of owners- err, servants!

Your Nocturne is as beautiful and stream lined as you Bailey. I think that other boat has nothing inside because it has just let everything hang out !

Does look like overkill. Like you, I prefer simplicity, and Nocturne has lovely lines

Hi Bailey! I agree – the Roma looks “overripe” with JUNK! I wouldn’t want to be seen on it – I’d much prefer the beautiful sleek and very “ship-shape” Nocturne – just as you said, as long as you have the necessary equipment, why carry every single piece of stuff MADE????? As for what’ inside? I agree with Gallivanta – the inside must be empty because they’ve got everything hooked up, hanging off, hanging up, attached, to the OUTSIDE!

Bailey that other boat looks like a real hodge podge of “stuff” compared to the beautiful, sleek and gorgeous Nocturne. It’s got to be empty on the inside because they’ve attached, hooked, hung every possible thing they could find on the OUTSIDE. They also definitely need a new flag….that one looks like the pirates got most of it on the last raid!!! 😀 😀

I don’t know much about ocean vessels but it looks like yhay boat does ALOT of deep sea fishing. We have seen boats on the Pacific and the Atlantic here in the USA that are rigged like that. They fish for tuna and shark and kool fish like that.
