Planning to go cruising.

I’m so happy today because my dad is here in Nice with me.  My mum is really happy too and I think my dad’s got extra salmon points for surprising us last night.  He sent a message to come out onto the balcony and he was standing down in the middle of the street! It was the best surprise ever.

We had a long chat about where we are and where we are going. I won’t bore you with all the details because my mum does like to go on sometimes, but the gist of it was:

Right now…

  • We are very lucky, we have a great life with lots of love and fun.
  • Dad’s on Nocturne based just outside of Rome.
  • Mum’s in the flat in Nice along the French Riviera.
  • I can go wherever I please! I prefer to be on the boat, but I usually stay with my mum because she doesn’t like being on her own.
  • They’re both in a fortunate position to have good secure jobs which gives them the freedom for us to do exciting things together.

In the not too distant future…

  • When the stars align/work transfers come through/ some other pawesome opportunity comes along we will live together.
  • We have some super exciting projects we would like to do on Nocturne.
  • Projects might involve taking Nocturne out of the water for a little while.
  • Mum wants to do some sailing courses because she only started to learn when she met my dad.
  • Maybe I’ll study navigation and weather to keep them both in check!
  • They both want to find ways to make money while we’re cruising so we can go for as long as we want. (That’s a whole new post!)
  • Preparing my beloved Nocturne for cruising will be almost as exciting as actually cruising.
  • Then eventually, hopefully not too far away, we will cast off and go cruising.

I can’t wait to cruising and if it was up to me we would’ve left yesterday but I have to remember the great quote from Greg Anderson

“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”
