Wild weather and salty storms!

What is going on with the weather at the moment?  Two days ago it was clear skies and a lovely catbathing 26 degrees here in Rome.  Fast forward a couple of days and we are getting thrashed around in an impressive storm.

Last night was one of the roughest nights I’ve ever spent on the boat and we’re not even out on anchor. My dad got up a few times in the night to check and adjust the lines. It was gusting 45 knots! My humans and I love the sound of the rain thrashing down on the deck while the three of us are nice and cosy inside.

Nice and cosy in bed.

This morning when I woke up there was huge lightening strikes and thunder bolts that got my fur all ruffled up. I’ve never heard anything like it. I must admit, it freaked me out a little until I got my treats. My mum thinks tea solves everything… She’s wrong.  My treats do!

Nocturne is covered in salt, it’s a browny yellowy colour.  She needs a good wash down. Think we’ll wait until tomorrow though.

I’m happily watching the day’s events from my favourite spot on top of the wardrobe. The surges in the marina make it really cool to watch out.

My favourite lookout!

My humans are obsessed with the weather because they’re sailors. I heard them talking about the ‘Frankenstorm’ off the East Coast of America. So sad to hear about HMS Bounty already being claimed by it. I hope all of my feline friends across the pond are prepared for the next few days, it sounds like it’s going to be fur raising.

Here in the Med we aren’t experiencing anything close to that but it’s still weather not to be meowed at!  We are being careful and sensible (for a change!).

Let’s hope that the reality of the next few days isn’t as bad as what’s been forecast. I hope everyone in Hurricane Sandy’s path stays safe and warm.

Love Bailey xx
